Welcome to the FHWA Virginia Division
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Division Offices are local field offices that provide leadership, guidance, and direction to State Departments of Transportation in the project development and delivery of transportation projects. Working collaboratively with State partners, FHWA Division Offices ensure that the nation's roads, bridges and tunnels are safe and continue to support economic growth. Additionally, to ensure accountability, the FHWA Division Offices work with the State to develop, track and analyze activities and recommend innovative techniques and strategies to improve the performance of the transportation system. FHWA and its Division Offices are responsible for working with State Departments of Transportation to ensure that the nation's strategic investments preserve and modernize the U.S. highway system - and ultimately to save lives.
Welcome to the Virginia Division of the Federal Highway Administration. We in the Federal Highway Administration are committed to working with you, our customers and partners, to keep America moving safely, comfortably, economically, and without harm to our environment.
Stimulated by the President's and Vice President's National Performance review initiative and our commitment to excellent service, we have taken many steps to increase our efforts to understand our customer's needs and expectations and to strengthen our partnerships with all levels of government and the private sector.
The Virginia Division works closely with the Virginia Department of Transportation to improve Virginia's highway system and its intermodal connections. We will always seek your input to help us evaluate our programs, rethink our Federal role, streamline our processes, revise our policies, take new approaches to old challenges, and enhance the quality of our services. Our plan is to let you, our customers and partners, know how we are doing. Together we can ensure the highest quality of surface transportation in the world.
