With over 10 million people, the Chicago region is the largest in Illinois, and the third largest in the country. In order to better serve the needs of the traveling public, the Illinois Division has established an urban satellite office in downtown Chicago. This office focuses on project development and implementation in the Chicago region, and offers a direct presence for the agency in a major metropolitan area.

The Chicago Urban Satellite Office is staffed by four individuals from the Federal Highway Administration.
